TOA CORPORATION (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Takeshi HAYAKAWA) and Equi-Parco Construction Company, Philippines was awarded a contract by the Department of Public Works and Highways in the Philippines for the construction of flood control diversion channels along the San Juan River basin in the Cavite province, southwest of Metro Manila. The contract amount is approximately 12 billion JPY with a construction period of about 39 months.
The project includes construction of the San Juan Diversion Channel (Approx. 2.4km), Maalimango Diversion Drainage I (Approx. 0.5km) and Lower Maalimango Diversion Drainage II (Approx. 0.4km).
Cavite province is adjacent to Metro Manila, which makes it an important area for economic development, but flooding is a serious risk in the area. By implementing flood mitigation and drainage measures, this project is expected to reduce flood damage and contribute to the economic development.
The Japanese government is expected to promote economic cooperation with Philippines and TOA is set to establish a business presence in the country. Beginning with this project, and through participation in various infrastructure projects, TOA will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of the country and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
