The Joint Venture formed by TOA CORPORATION (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo: President Takeshi Hayakawa) and Spectra Engineers Limited (Local construction company) has been awarded a contract from Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) for the Construction of Civil Works for Soil Improvement and Land Development at Depot for MRT Line-5N.
The construction period is 1,461 days (about 48 months) and the contract amount is about 15 billion yen.
The Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-5): Northern Route is to construct a mass rapid transit line connecting east and west Dhaka that will be funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under Japan’s Official Development Assistance Loan Program. Our contract package is to execute the soil improvement and land development for the depot area in the first phase of the above MRT Line 5 Northern Route project. Several MRT projects are currently executed in Bangladesh and more projects are expected to be implemented in the near future. Through this project and others, the Dhaka metropolitan area will be able to alleviate traffic congestion, meet the transportation demand, and improve economic development and urban environment.
TOA CORPORATION will steadily carry out the construction work by utilizing its specialized technologies and abundant experience in soil improvement work in order to successfully complete the project. Furthermore, we will continue to contribute to the country’s further development by participating in future projects to meet its increasing demand for infrastructure development needs relative to its economic growth.
