Cutter suction dredgers are adopted for dredging and reclamation works, and plays an important roll in dredging channels and harbor basins as well as reclaiming waterfront sites. It is equipped with spuds in order to control the position, and enables itself to advance in dredging areas. Dredging works are carried out by excavating the seabed with the cutter head fixed at the tip of the ladder and the excavated material is sucked into the dredging pumps and transported to the designated discharge area through pipelines.
